Founded in 1973, Nature Expeditions International (NEI) has been a leader in the field of educational adventure travel ever since. Every year, we send adventurers to over 25 countries on 5 different continents, both on land-based and adventure cruising expeditions. Our travelers are typically active, well-educated, North Americans aged 40 and over -- although many bring their children and grandchildren. They seek participatory experiences that combine natural history, soft adventure, meaningful cultural interactions and upscale comfort. They travel as singles, couples, families and small groups. Some opt for existing NEI tours, while others prefer "customized" tours designed to meet specific parameters.

Based in Plantation, Florida, Nature Expeditions International is a member of the International Ecotourism Society, the International Galapagos Tour Operators Association (founding member), the African Wildlife Foundation, IATA and the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida.

Why should you travel with NEI?  Here’s why:

Advantage #1: NEI expeditions offer more adventure variety. Every NEI trip offers a choice of at least 3 different types of adventure. Sample adventures include hiking, bicycling, whitewater rafting, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, bushwalks, canoeing, kayaking, camel or elephant back treks, glacier trekking, tubing and plane gliding.

Advantage #2: Every NEI adventure is low-intensity, carefully tailored for active, healthy persons over 40. Some of our "soft" adventures are also suitable for older children or teenagers. Rafting excursions use class 2–3 rivers (class 5 is most difficult). Bicycling excursions use smooth roads with little traffic and minimal inclines. Kayaking trips take place in protected coves or tranquil rivers.

Advantage #3: NEI offers alternative cultural or sightseeing excursions for travelers electing not to participate in a particular adventure. This might include, for example, a visit to the home of an Andean mystical healer or to an Argentine dance parlor for a private Tango lesson. We specialize in customizing tours to meet our clients' preferences!

Advantage #4: NEI trips are more educational. Most NEI trips offer two high quality lectures (optional) by experts to supplement the information conveyed by our excellent guides. Travelers may choose from a menu of available lectures for each destination.

Advantage #5: NEI offers more comfort. NEI offers its members a choice of “first class” or “deluxe” expeditions. Most meals are included and they are of a very high quality.

Advantage #6: NEI’s independent travel programs offer the same or greater benefits as group tours—private airport transfers and private tours with expert guides. The NEI independent traveler receives more personalized service than a member of a group. Moreover, the independent traveler benefits from guaranteed weekly departures during the season.

Advantage #7: NEI’s guides are truly topnotch: they are notable for their knowledge, experience level and affability.
